Nurse Residency Program
UHC/AACN Nurse Residency Program™ /the Maryland State Collaborative

The Maryland Nurse Collaborative is an innovative, first of its kind collaboration between the Maryland Organization of Nurse Leaders (MONL) and the UHC/AACN.  It was launched in 2013 in response to the Institute of Medicine Report on the Future of Nursing.

The curriculum is designed to support newly graduated nurses in their development as professional nurses and members of the health care team.

Key Program Points:

  • A full 12 month program
  • Educational sessions based on the standardized UHC/AACN curriculum
  • Emphasis on leadership development, communication, patient safety, and professional career planning.
  • Nurse facilitators guide education sessions, work with nurse resident, serve as experienced nurse experts, and guide the residents’ evidence-based project efforts.
  • Statewide data collection and UHC surveys will be used to monitor results of the program.
